Hi
@Diarium Ejus and welcome to the forum. At my diabetes review in spring ‘23 I asked if I could start on one instead of my Metformin. Just as a bit of history I successfully lost six stone when I was first diagnosed type 2 in 2017 by eating low carb, but then I suffered two family bereavements in quick succession and comfort ate, think fats, too much double cream and dark chocolate, as I was still determined to keep my blood sugars under control. I put back on two stone and needed help to kick start losing it again.
Back to spring ‘23 and my diabetes nurse and GP agreed with my request even though it should only be prescribed for a BMI of over 35, mine was then 34.8. I said I would eat extra cream to get to 35 (!) but they agreed all the same. I had Victoza to start with and lost weight slowly, but then at the start of ‘24 hit a problem getting it during all the ‘skinny jabs‘ media frenzy. I had to go back on Metformin but it didn’t agree with me anymore. In the meantime I heard about Rybelsus a tablet form of semaglutide the same medicine that’s in Ozempic. My medics agreed with for me to have Rybelsus which I am still on. To date I have lost 3 stone, so the two stone gained plus 1 more.
I hope you can get what you’d like, maybe having read my story you may be able to persuade your health care team. However bear in mind you do have to have a little will power to not overeat, it just somehow seems to make things easier.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Edit for spelling.
