Hi all - apologies if this is on another thread but was wondering if u guys inject for protein & if so is it about 50% of normal dose? My sugars have been high this past week & my nurse wants me to go back to eating higher carb diet to see if it's the protein!!!!! I'm not going to - don't worry(!) - but am finding I need to inject more before bed to cover my evening meal 3hrs prior! V odd. Roughly having between 75g-97g protein daily. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Protein does require a bolus. I find about 50% of equivalent for weight of carbs works. I tend to bolus twice with food when there are limited carbs. Once to a bit before the meal and another about 1.5 to 2 hours after, splitting the 50% dose across the two.

Much like Tim, in the absence of carbs I have to bolus twice (split-dose) for low-carb meals, getting the dose right is trial and error and as far as I'm aware there's no formula.
