Hi everyone I'm going on holiday soon how do I go about taking insulin through the airport do I keep it in my suit case or hand luggage as I've never done this before thanks

Hi @djry put it in your hand luggage as putting it your suitcase, which will go in the hold will freeze the insulin which will spoil it. When going through security place all your insulin in the liquid bags provided. I also got a letter from my GP stating that i was an insulin dependant diabetic but i was not asked for it.

I hope this helps.

Hi There @djry

definitely in your hand luggage
you should invest in a frio wallet to store the insulin too.

really you should take all your D equipment with you in hand luggage( test strips , meter, spare pens , etc )

Take at least twice as much of everything you think you will need, and if travelling with someone else split it evenly between your hand luggage. Oh and don't be an complete idiot like me and sort out your insulins the night before and then completely forget to put it in the hand luggage the following morning...............!

Hand luggage.

It's also a good idea to split your diabetes supplies between yourself and a travelling partner (if applicable), that way if one bag goes missing you still have enough supplies to go on with until you get a prescription from a local Dr.
