hi all, been diabetic for 23 years and always been on injections. i too am looking for some advice. I have epilepsy and t1 diabetes. i have seizures here and there not too many as i did have. hospital and specialists have been offering me the pump for 3 years now but never wanted it, as i have concerns that the docs cant answer? does anyone on here have a pump and epilepsy? whats good about the pump? can you do sports and everyday things? how often does the tube need replaced? etc..

Thanks

Hi Stephen89. Sorry; I don't have much of an answer to your question but I also have type 1 diabetes and epilepsy and am thinking about getting a pump as well. I've heard the pump doesn't stop you from doing anything and I know some people with just diabetes who have pumps and they say it's really changed their lives around, but it was very hard at first trying to figure out carb ratios, basal rates etc. I think the tube needs changed every 2-3 days. I'm sorry I couldn't help more

I have epilepsy and Type 1 although I haven't had any seizures for a few years. Just got the pump a couple of days ago and from wearing it for 3 days I feel it has given me a lot better control. The tubing has to be replaced every 3 days. You can still wear it playing sports although if you want to you can unhook the pump for up to an hour at a time. The pump is good because it allows you to have different basal rates for different times of the day. Also you are told to insure the pump so that if lets say you have a seizure and you fall and break the pump you are able to get another one out to you through insurance within 24 hours. Hope that helps you! :)
