could someone please tell me what is the ratio of insulin for my blood sugar readings if i am reading 12 how much insulin should i put in to bring that down to sy 5 or6 i have been doubling the number it is and adding that eg a reading of 12 i put 24 units of insulin in and its up and down i cant stabilise please thankyou

wow.... That really is a huge number for a corection dose.

What are your normal doses? e.g what is your long-acting dose, and what do you usuall have for meal times.

Also, which insulins do you use?

^^ That website is written with the american measurements, so it's a bit hard to understand.
But this website (DUK) has the conversion tables somewhere.

To calculate correction doses a tiny bit better, you have got to try and work out what your average total daily dose of insulin is so have a look at this thread first

and then log on to http://www.bdec-e-learning.com/ It will explain how to work out correction doses so that you can get yourself back to your target of 5 .

At the moment you are definately over correcting with the insulin so that's the reason why you are dropping way too low. For most people 1 unit of insulin will make their bg drop by approx 2 points but everyone is different so use BDEC.
