Hi this may seem like a daft question but here goes ...what percentage of type 2 on metformin go on to need insulin injections?
Thanks worried and confused
Hi. If you were/are overweight at diagnosis then with the right low-carb diet may well mean you never need insulin as insulin resistance is the problem. If you are/were slim then insulin is more likely as the T2 diagnosis may well actually be Late onset T1
If you get bs under control and your balanced diet sorted there is a good chance you will never need to go onto insulin. But it also depends on a lot of other factors
Hi thanks for the replies im type 2 since Feb this year and on metformin my last hb1ac was 6.3 so not doing to bad weight wise only another stone and target weight achieved
50% of diabetics are on insulin within 6-10 years.
I would guess those that look after themselves have a better chance of being in the half that don't go on to insulin
