Interpreting test results

Hi all again

My new BG Meter turned up yesterday, so today I've started making my fingers sore and testing my own BG levels

I tested when I first woke, and 2 hours after each meal - can I conclude from these results that everything I ate today was OK for me?

Waking 6.5
after breakfast 7.0
after lunch 6.3
after dinner 6.6

Remarkably good results well done! You should always aim to try and keep under 7.8 at +2 hours.

At the 6.5ish you're achieving you are getting the same kind of readings that 19 out of 20 non diabetics would get at +2 hours but of course they achieve that on a wider range of foods than you can.

I would maybe do a few readings prior to your main meal as well just to give you an idea of where your fasting level sits as the waking 6.5 one will be including any DP effect you suffer.

hose numbers look fair, especially for a newbie.
i personally keep them lower, by eating very low carb

Thanks everyone, I'm quite pleased right now, as only 4 weeks ago I tested at 24 on a fingerprick test with my DSN!

And especially pleased that my roast lamb on Sunday didn't seem to cause any problems (although I did cut back a lot on my spuds, stuffing and yorkie puds!)

Gave this a try with my evening meal today, before I tested at 5.6, two hours after 5.9 (approx 60 grams of carbs in the meal, slice of pork pie, pickles and lots of salad)

I'm quite pleased with that test!

Do I need to keep testing after meals I'm pretty sure are OK?

For example Bacon, eggs, Mushrooms and a glass of milk for breakfast I've test after 3 times now with good numbers, can I save a few strips and not test after eating the same ?
