Is it possible that my friend might have diabeties?

Type 1
Treatment type
Insulin
So my best friend is currently having these symtomps:
Drinks a lot more often
feels tired a lot more often
Sometimes pees a lot more often
Gets blurry vision a bit more often then ussuall (i said a bit more as she already is visually impared but still can see)
Gets cramps/pains all over her body
looses appetite sometimes
Sudden weight loss

She is in the teen age range

Is it possible she has diabeties?


(diabeties runs in her family)

Difficult to say on a forum. Have you tried your BG meter on your friend ? I would tell her to go see doc as we cannot diagnose here.

What is BG short for and I've not tried anything on her. She said it started on Thursday when i saw her at school.

BG is short for blood glucose or sometimes known as blood sugar levels-do you have a Lloyds chemist shop near you? if so they could check her blood quickly and for free and if there's a high reading they can refer her to the doctor.

I just figured out what BG meant (As i'm diabetic type 1 myself)
and no i don't think we have a Lloyds chemist shop near us

You're T1 diabetes ? Can't you test your friends blood glucose level with your meter ?
 
OK. Well you mentioned you see her at school so you could do it Mon or I would tell her to visit her own doc, probably both !
 
Certainly sounds like she has all the classical symptoms, so a visit to a doctor would seem in order.
 
The recent weight loss is something to consider together with more frequent peeing and drinking. Do try to get her to do a blood test (using a new lancet of course) on your meter. If it's above around 10'ish then do more tests and advise seeing the GP.

I did ask her through text a bit earlier and she said her parents are busy with work (they work on the weekend sometimes too) they don't have time to till half tern (our half term well we break up in 2 weeks time)
 
Test your friends level Mon and go from there. Nobody on a forum can diagnose. Your BG meter will be a good indicator but they still need to see a doc. If parents can't take to doc, why can't she go herself ?

Because she lives far away from the doctors she goes to and is visually impaired
 
OK, difficult to offer suitable advice then. Hopefully her parents will take her when they can, even if it's Half Term.
 
I would encourage your friend to go along and see her gp, the symptoms you describe could point to diabetes but it could be a number of other conditions, best that she gets checked out just to be sure.
