Is there anyone who's not on metformin

Please I'm being taken of sitagliptin and putting on higher dose of gliclazide which I'm happy to but metformin is still on my prescription is there anyone that has been put on a different one to metformin my friend in America said she couldn't take it as she got stomach upset even with slow release so she is on another can't spell it lol but all I need to know could I come off the met and go on a alternative I'm going to see the doc Monday just wondered if anyone here has had same thing happen. It's about time my doctor changed the tabs it's been 3 years now and this new doc is hopefully going to help with the weight
