hi,
sometime ago i advertised on here for people to join the group i help to run the welwyn garden city and district group.I got one response who never turned up at a meeting . we have approx 30 members at present in 1995 we had 150. Out of the present 30 only 2 or 3 turn up at any of our meetings which is once a month, we normally have an expert speaker who gives a talk on a diabetic subject .our group is free so why the lack of support as i understand we have approx over 5000 diabetics in our region. We advertise through doctors surgeries, clinics, libaries, magazines and newspapers without any success.
Any ideas?

cheers
roger

Depressed People, Girls my age who think everything is about them and always whine about "Awwwwww, he's cheating on me!" and blah, blah, blah..
What area is this available too?

I'm guessing it's only available to a certain part of the country?

Hi Roger,
I am in a different area, so can't attend. There is a similar group here..and I am full of good intentions to go..but haven't made it yet. The reasons are.

Didn't know that it existed until last year, as it was not advertised at the hospital or the GPs clinic. The GP then did start handing out fliers for teh group, which at least made me aware that it was occuring!

I am T1, and most of the topics are T2 orientated, so I didn't go.

50% of the meetings were during work hours, so I couldn't make it.

I would sy that getting the specialist nurses in teh gp practises on board as advocates for your group would help?
best of luck,
S
