Today i will be mostly complaining about the surgeon who operated on heel back in May, he removed a large abscess .
He introduced himself to me 6 months ago on a hospital ward, not by name but " how many cigarettes do you smoke ", he then asked me if i like my legs and wanted to keep them .... then he said he was moving me to a ward where i will be surrounded by amputees. I had to sign the consent form for the op and was told i may lose my foot during the procedure.
All this because i had stood on something in the garden, something hair sized found its way into my shoe and punctured my heel, thus causing an abscess.
The surgeon mentioned nothing about this or me being diabetic for 28 years and having neuropathy , just the fags !
Anyway i am happy to say i did not lose my foot and is now totally healed.*( due to the after care of my podiatrist)
Today i went for my first outpatients appointment with him, the nurse asked why i had not brought a urine sample, took my weight and blood pressure. I wish someone would explain to me why they do this at every hospital appointment you ever go to for the last 30 years
The surgeon asked me if i would like to remove my trousers, i said no , it ok , there is nothing wrong with my legs ( did he know why i was here i ask myself )
I took my shoes and socks off and he looked at me strangely and said which foot did i operate on, this one i said waving it about in front of him, I cant see anything he said, show me your other foot :x
My foot has healed i replied ! ok i will see you in 3 months then he said, So i wandered off home a little dazed.
I have had loads of problems with my feet, i see the diabetic podiatrist every week, she is great
but this Surgeon..... , i think he might have been hit by one to many golf balls !
