Keeps cropping up .....

I keep coming across people on the Forum who need help to work the NHS. Is any guidance issued through the Forum to explain to new and less assertive members what they should expect from and how to get the best out of the NHS system? A good example where people are missing out is carb counting and support available through courses - fairly fundamental to good control but people are missing out?

As far as I understand Rob, NHS/NICE does not promote carb counting and still issue dietary advice that includes the suggestion that one third of the diet should be carbohydrates. While this may or may not be appropriate for non-diabetics, as far as I've come to believe it isn't the best balance for those who do have the condition.
Base meals on potatoes, bread, rice, pasta or other starchy carbohydrates. Choose wholegrain where possible

Starchy food should make up just over a third of the food we eat. Choose higher-fibre, wholegrain varieties, such as wholewheat pasta and brown rice, or simply leave skins on potatoes. There are also higher-fibre versions of white bread and pasta.

Here in Scotland there is pretty good information about what to expect from NHS Scotland as far as diabetes is concerned. And folk who have registered on "My Diabetes My Way" can access their personal clinical data and see it in a variety of formats - pdfs/graphs/text etc. Here's the 'what to expect' page of info:

As a follow-up to the above, here's a video that shows how comprehensive the NHS Scotland "My Diabetes ..." information is:

Thanks @miahara . The example I gave was in response to a number of younger T1s on the Forum who don't seem to have been properly informed about courses such as DAFNE that are available and which, it seems, could help improve their control and provide long term benefits for them? I just feel younger and less able people need a bit of help to get the best out of the system?
