I definitely agree with @Guzzler, and I actually find it quite insulting, as IMO it trivialises the efforts people make trying to manage their diabetes. Far too much emphasis seems to be put now on body image rather than a person's true worth, and this request is simply reinforcing this false "value".

Whilst I agree swimwear is not the ideal attire for multiple reasons, I admire the desire to raise the profile of the impact of diabetes on any part of our lives including body image.
I tend to avoid bikinis because the white of my body would blind most people and cause problems with a camera flash. And that's when I have spent a little time with fake tan ... other wise, I am more blue than white.
