I know this isn't an original thought, but there are lots of people joining all the time and this has been a bit of a revelation..

namely..

Hartleys Low Calorie Cranberry & Raspberry flavour Jelly

(other brands and flavours are available).

1.75g carbs per 175g pot - had a pot with a dollop of Total Gk Yog this evening (after an enormous piece Aubergine Lasagne and a glass of red plonk) - 1hr reading 4.8 - 2hr reading 6.0 !

Oh yes !

Other brands are not available.

Harltleys Sugar Free and huge amounts of double cream are my low-carb lifeline.

And all the flavours a great!!
A regular with lashings of double cream for breakfasts now!! (About the only thing I can eat that keeps my levels low for lunch!!
May even manage to put on a bit more weight with all this double cream (stop folks telling me I'm too skinny!!)

Don't like jelly with cream. The cream makes it nasty.

The only drawback about thse types of grub is the cost, nearly three times the price of an ordinary jelly. I like the tubs of Hartleys sugar free but find the sachets more economical, one sachet makes a pint of jelly.

The flavours are more limited but still ok, strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant etc.

Mrs Borofergie would agree with that assumption

I'm not keen on the pots, the teture is not the same as the sachets, probably the different gelling agent. Also my favorite lemon and lime is not available in the pots.

However I now have a solution, I make up the sachets in the little plastic pots we had for baby food when the kids were little. They seem ot be OK out of the fridge for a while without melting. I've taken them in packed lunches and on camping trips (in a cool box) and they were fine.

I always go for the sugar free strawberry pot as it has 3 kcal, 0.5g carbs and 0.0g suger per pot. Like borofergie I like the cream option but once I put it in the freezer by mistake and it made a nice ice lolly!

With Jelly I make it up to half a pint and add a Low fat Yogurt mix it together.....then when set you have a lovely Moose MMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I buy the ready made jellies and when I've eaten them I save the pots, then use them for making my own from the sachets. You get the same size portions then as those you buy. A bit of cling film over the top and they keep in the fridge just fine.
If you use the tall low calorie pots and only half fill them with the jelly mix you then also have room on the top for some cream, yogurt or whatever when you come to eat them!!

I suppose Vanilla Ice cream is out of the question? 8)

I found someone to buy the sachet's today and Asda also sell a pack of 6 moulds for £2 . The moulds have a stopper, to make it easy to get the jelly out and a lid so that you can take them to work.

And how cheap are the sachet's - 69p for 2 sachets and each sachet makes 6 of these pots - that's less than 6p each - bargain

You can generaly get the jelly crystals and make it up yourself. VERY inexpensive I found it listed at 69p per packet of crystal. Idon't know how many pots that makes, but I bet it's more than 1

That's what I bought - and actually 69p for 2 packs of crystals - or 12 pots

I see the hartleys low calorie ones contain aspartame

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame_controversy

but the thrust of that article seems to be that's it's frequently been proved as safe ..

"Aspartame has been found to be safe for human consumption by more than ninety countries worldwide,[13][14] with FDA officials describing aspartame as "one of the most thoroughly tested and studied food additives the agency has ever approved" and its safety as "clear cut".[4] The weight of existing scientific evidence indicates that aspartame is safe as a non-nutritive sweetener.[8]"

or am I reading that wrong ?
