soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
Many of us were upset by the throw away comment Quoted from Sir muir Gray about losing weight and walking 3000steps more a day being all a diabetic needs to do.
I eventually found an address which might find him and sent this.
Dear sir,
I would like to tell you that I have type 2 diabetes and have followed the path you recommend. I have lost 16 kg, so far and walk every day. My pedometer confirms it's 10.000 steps. More than 3.000 more that you recommended. I also do water exercises (Aquamobility) for 45 minutes twice weekly. I eat low carb, along the lines of Richard Bernstein's advice.
I regret to have to inform you that with all this, I still have the diabetes and still want to know what my blood glucose is doing, so I can keep it in check. I'm well within the targets set by my GP. I have NEVER seen a consultant. Why am I being denied blood testing equipment? and is my GP right in thinking that the NHS is moving towards getting all type 2 diabetics onto insulin? Surely that would cost more than some test strips? Even more expensive would be if I (and others like me) make mistakes with eating and exercise plans and Blood Glucose creeps up unnoticed, towards complications.
Yours

I've got one

"Dear Sir Muir Gray,

You are an absolute cretin, please keep your retarded opinions and poorly informed views to yourself in future.

Lots of love

Roy"

What an asshat.

He's just spinning the NHS line that he's expected to use. Independent Thought (TM) is frowned up on in New Labour's Britain, and he's got more to lose by turning against them than he has by sticking with it.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm just pointing out he's part of the medical establishment and thus isn't about to contradict every NHS/government line about diabetes for the past six years.

Edit: If you look at his comments on other articles though, he does seem to be a gentleman of some knowledge who can make rational and educated comments.
