My doctor told me that I want to be at 6mmol before going to sleep.
I usually view anything over 5.6mmol as being ok.
What guidelines does everyone else follow?

When people say 'Pacific' instead of 'Specific' :-)
6 is my personal target so I aim for that but I have been to sleep at 5 before, but only if my other half is there, if I am alone I wouldn't be happy about going to bed at 4-5............

Cool.
Good to know we're all on the same page on this.
Was 4.4 before bed last night. Always seem to hit mid to low 4s the evening of a lunchtime gym visit.

catherinecherub posted a great link about the dangers of hypoglycemia in this thread...

I'll quote the relevant bit, an extract of conclusions from a study of a

"random sample of 58 insulin dependent diabetics receiving twice daily insulin...
...If the bedtime blood glucose concentration was below 6 mmol/l (108 mg/100 ml) the risk of nocturnal hypoglycaemia was 80% .

If the bedtime blood glucose concentration was above 6 mmol/l the likelihood of hypoglycaemia NOT occurring during the night was 88% (74-96%)."
