Very subjective this post hence I speak for myself.
If I were to rate the contributing factors to my remission they would be as follows:
(1) Low diagnostic level.
(2) Duration of symptoms/diagnosis.
(3) Lack of dependence on pharmaceuticals.
(4) Good online support.
(5) Weight loss.
(6) Exercise.
(7) Ignoring medical dogma.
(8) Dietary changes/low carb.

I realise everyone is going to have a different experience on this & by all means individualise your own listings.
Looking forward to hearing your responses.

After over a year of following GP and Diabetic Guidance (NDSS in Aussie) stumbled across an article about a diet that reverses Type 2 (Newcastle Diet) . In researching came across DUK

  1. Learnt so much about Diabetes from DUK members (taking control)
  2. Was advised here to test test test (taking control)
  3. Obesity
  4. Undertook Newcastle Diet with others on DUK and support thru the process (hardest twelve weeks of my dietary life)
  5. With the control of my testing took myself off Metformin and monitored (never took again)
  6. With advice and support from DUK followed Newcastle diet with LCHF
  7. Reduced bloods to normal and after carb loading and testing with great results packed up my meter and took my bat and ball home "Cured"
  8. In hindsight prefer the term in remission (Lost all control)
  9. Starting next chapter here!!! Current Status still to be determined....
