Livlife Low Carb Bread Discontinued

Hi All
I've just discovered Waitrose have delisted Livlife bread - the only supermarket that sells it. I'm sure many of you who regularly buy it know it's the best (and frankly the only) decent low carb bread available in main supermarkets.
I totally rely on it to keep my carbs in check, and whenever I go to buy it it's usually sold out (I have to get loaves put aside for me first thin in the morning if I'm not going to get to a store before midday!). So it can't be because it's not selling... it's clearly incredibly popular, I imagine largely with us diabetics!
I've been trying to contact them to get a reason, but am waiting for a response from their customer services. My mum (also Type 1 and a Livlife convert) spoke to the supplier, who said Waitrose have cancelled their supply contract, and as they were the only supermarket they were supplying with it, they have now ceased production.
I honestly am going to really struggle without it, and I'm sure there are many others here who feel the same.
I think our best hope is to all contact Waitrose customer services and register complaints, ad hopefully this will encourage them to reverse their decision. We need to try to make them understand how important specialist products like this are to communities like ours...
So please, if anyone else who buys Livlife is going to miss it, let's try to knock some sense into the Waitrose buying team! Thanks xx

Hi there @LittleNicki , I totally emphasize with you. I have coeliac, another autoimmune disorder. There is not a large selection of gluten free products, so when a product is withdrawn it’s a thing. It causes distress and frustration. They just don’t seem to get it when a speciality product, vital for health, is withdrawn. These products are not going to appeal to the masses as it were, but they are of importance to the minority of people who need them.

I’m a fan of LivLife and that’s a really odd decision - it’s the main reason I go to Waitrose; while there I usually buy other items (can’t afford a full shop though!). Strange as LivLife seems to “fly off the shelf” as soon as an order arrives.

I usually get 2 loaves because it freezes so well. If I remember, Sainsbury’s sell a protein loaf, but it’s not as good. I’ll have to try making my own again if necessary.

Lidl never brought back the triangles

FYI the bread in Sainsbury’s is “Hi-lo” and 5g carbs per slice, compared to Livlife’s 3.7g. It’s £2.30 at the time of writing.

It’s OK, but my main issue is the size of each slice is it’s oddly shaped to make a sandwich in my opinion: quite small, but thick. It’s better for toast.

Full nutrition etc: https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/hi-lo-loaf

Edited to show this photo (comparison with medium white ):

@LittleNicki I have been into my local twice this week to buy this bread so thanks for advising on this.

I totally love this bread it's the only thing I can eat in the morning to keep my levels below 10 mmol/l so gutted to hear this, I normally keep a stock in the freezer but have been running low, there's nothing that comes close to this in regards to carb content.. :grumpy:

Lidl do a "low GI" unsliced loaf now and there are also some part-baked rolls and thins similar to the Warburtons ones, but I don't know what the macro's are as I'm trying not to have any bread products (they're the carb I struggle with the most)

This is the recipe I follow (I now way can I call it mine!) https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/the-keto-bread

It occasionally fails for some unknown reason, but usually produces lovely, fluffy bread rolls, although oddly purple due to the psyllium.

Ps it’s not vegan and I don’t know if the eggs can be successfully swapped for aquafaba etc.

Because of this I wrote a letter of appreciation to a Dutch company that makes low carb breakfast crackers, that actually taste great. Better to let them know how much a product means and why, before it's cancelled, I figured... Because it's a recent discovery that that stuff's actually pretty good, and I'd hate to lose it now!

Just spoken to Livlife office in Salisbury and I was told they have stopped production due to low sales. But was also told that it will depend on Waitrose if they can come back on sale in Waitrose.
Sad, as Livelife has been my bread for the past 7 years.

Yes! I'd tried the HiLo at Sainsbury's a few years back & it was nowhere near as good. And all the Waitroses I got LivLife from always sold out if you didn't get there early, so I refuse to believe it's because it's not selling. I'd also go to Waitrose especially for it, and would but a few to freeze. I'm at a loss as to what to eat for breakfasts now. So angry!

Same! I'm fuming... no other breakfast options that I can control my levels with. Hopefully if they get enough complaints they might reconsider...
