Hello all
Stumbled upon the forum after some "googling" this afternoon.
I have to say "looking forward" because looking back makes me frustrated and angry
About me ...
Despite being diagnosed 4+ years ago I still don't feel that I or the "professionals" have nailed the problem exactly. My most recent HbA1c was 8.3 based on 1500mg Metformin + 320mg Glicazide per day + good diet + lots of exercise. I was also starting to lose weight for no apparent reason.
I've recently switched to Humulin I. Currently i'm taking 12u with breakfast and evening meal. My meter readings (Avg 8.9 Mmol before meals) tell me I need more insulin than this but I am at least gaining weight. The plan is I will move to Basal Bolus regime in a few weeks time after getting used to injecting insulin.
About you ...
My suspicion despite being 50 yrs old is that i am type 1 not type 2. Now i'm on insulin it probably dosent make a difference what i am, but I am disappointed that I havent "pushed" those looking after me to get to the right answer. The people on this forum seem so highly aware of their situation and what to do about it. I'm going to need some help and this looks like a good place to be
All the best
Paul
