Hi @danben,hello. i have just joined this forum looking for help really would like to point out first i have dyslexia so forgive the bad spelling ect. .as i kid i was always very skinny no matter how much i eat i used to eat non stop all day and wake up the next day with weight loss. and feeling very cold all the time am 34 now i just got a accu chek blood sugar monitor and have been taken reading over the last few days i eat a very clean diet with plenty of carbs veg and meat i dont eat junk atall or drink beer or wine. any how i have notiiced over the last few weeks that after i eat my blood suger does not stay very high say 6mmol/l for very long then it goes back down to near 4 mmol/l and i have seen it go to 3.6 mmol/l and last week it went to 2.6mmno/l any how its like my blood glucose wont stay high and seem to go down to fast when it get in to the 4.4mmo/l i stay feeling pretty light headed when its round 6.1 ish i feel fine its like my body it putting out loads of insulin and keep going till the blood sugar it super low its like i cant keep up with the food to keep the blood sugar were i feel ok. some times i have eating and then in 30 mins the blood sugar has gone lower this has happend only about 5 times in the past few weeks. so its like i have the opposite of diabetes like i go hypo not hypa. i have had to stop working cus by the end of the day i feel so cold with low blood suger even tho i was eating .its like i just cant give my body what i wants. i lose weight very fast and often feel dehydrated and pale and have to drink water and go teh bath room all the time what going on please help as i cant go on like this its been pretty much this way all my life and i cant cope with it . hope you can make some sense of all that i have a lead coming soon so i can up load the data for you to see thanks for any help over this,
i dont eat any sugar or sweets what so ever i do drink like 3L of water every day. you say dont eat carbs if i did i would get the point were i will pass out. i will have a look at the link now thnaksHi @danben,
I have late reactive hypoglycaemia, I can see by your symptoms that you do have a form of hypoglycaemia. Which one, I'm not to sure.
If you will have a look at the thread - please can we have a forum on reactive hypoglycaemia. @Brunneria will give you the link.
In the meantime do not eat high of medium carbs or anything sugary because that's the stimulus for the extra insulin and that triggers the hypos.
Eat every two to three hours have small meals. Drink plenty of water. If you hypo don't have anything that will start it over again. Black tea or coffee and a plain biscuit will slowly raise your bloods.
If you think your out of control fast for anything up to a day only drinking water. This will stabilise your blood glucose levels and stop the extra insulin.
You do need to see your GP. Ask him for a referral to see an endocrinologist.
Please read up on hypoglycaemia. Google it on Wikipedia as it's up to date. Come back and ask questions.

Your extra insulin produces more glucagon which is glucose. A form of sugar. You drink more because that is an unfortunate symptom of fluctuating bloods. Therefore extra insulin extra toilet time.it does go up after eating carbs but comes down way to fast and the odd time its just gone down after a meal but most of the time it does go up but will not stay up very long i eat at 14.00 the reading was 5.8. by 15.29 it was down to 4.3 if i wanted say one more hour is that it would be 4 or less. i did read about reactive hypoglycemia yes. when it gets into the 4 range i go pale and very cold. so after the meal i get the carbs in the blood but something it taken them away far to fast
Some low GI food will also spike you then you have a hypo. These I would avoid, these include wheat, rice, pasta, spuds, other grain products such as oats and barley, batter etc anything with carbs and sugars. There are very good recipes on the forum.dont drink tea of coffee anyhow. i was the other day making smoothies with just oats and water i did feel of most of the day i have been eating low gi food

It does get to you. And it is understandable that you feel the way you do as expressed in your post. That's another symptom. And there are plenty more as you read up, you will see that some will apply to you.

It doesn't happen quickly. You do need to stabilise and then fast. The way they stopped my symptoms and the first time I felt 'normal' was when I fasted for 72 hours. You don't need food. You can survive without food for quite a few days as long as sip water regularly.but when i dont eat the bloood sugar just keeps dropping last time in went to 2.4 i think i was so i had to eat.
