Hello all T2er here. I have been on a low carb diet for a week now. Staggered at how quickly my BGs have gone down. Before I started low carb, my readings have been anywhere between 23 and 12 for weeks. I’m now hitting below 10 for most of the day (except mornings, obvs). I wanted to celebrate my lowest score achieved ever just now: 5.6! Am eating a precautionary apple
Congratulations! Great progress! Unless you’re on insulin or diabetes meds other than Metformin, that’s highly unlikely to be necessary.
Gliclazide can cause hypos so you may well have needed that apple. On the plus side, you may find that low carbing allows you to reduce or come off the gliclazide. (It did my dad, aged 89 and after about ten years of T2).
Yes, my diabetic dad is on glics, and he needs his customary apple mid-morning, or he gets in a real state!
