Mark on my foot

I have been type 2 for two years and I dont keep very good control. I am a bit worried as this morning I found a mark on my foot. It is about a centimetre across and is very sore. I am worrying, imagining allsorts - huge ulcers, eventual amputation etc! I know I am getting ahead of myself. Should I worry? I have an appointment with diabetic consultant (6 month review) in 3 weeks. can I wait til then or should I see my GP? As I said in my introduction, sorry if I ask dumb questions as, although being type 2 for two years, have buried my head in the sand until now. Please help.

3 weeks is a long time to wait when you don't know what something is and it's causes ? Best advice I can offer is to get it checked out if it's worrying you. Don't always think the worst either. Many times most things are not even Diabetes related. See your GP.

Thanks for the advice. The thing is I only saw my GP yesterday re a vaso-vagal attack I had monday night . I also saw my GP last week re something different. I have lots of other health problems. I have chronic trochanteric bursitis, fibromyalgia, asthma mental health problems as well as diabetes. I am constantly at drs with something or other. I feel embarrassed to go there, I am there so often. What I'd like to know, am I wasting his and my time over something so small or is it really important I go?

Listen.......nobody should criticise you for looking after your health, least of all your GP !

If it is worrying you then you must do something about it. That in itself will not help you.

Why not phone and speak to a Nurse if you are worried about speaking to the GP again. Practice Nurses are usually ?? amenable.......try there first or even a local drop in centre.

Thanks for the advice. I live in a small town and we dont have a walkin clinic. But i will check my foot tomorrow morning and then phone and speak to a nurse. My GP and the other drs are all very nice except when I refused to give up smoking!! They dont seem to be phased by my seeing them a lot. Its just me. I feel embarrassed about seeing them so often. I guess I'll just have to get used to it!
Can I just say, I only joined this forum a few days ago and it has been very eye-opening and informative. Thank you to everyone for the topics and advice. It has completely changed the way I see diabetes. I thought of it as a minor inconvenience. I was only testing and injecting before brekkie and at night and didnt care what the results were. I was also eating anything I wanted -usually bad stuff. I now know it is a serious disease which has to be treated with respect. But, with a bit of help I know I can control it, not me it

Paula.
You may be embarrassed but don't let that stop you seeing HCP's when you need to. You are doing them a favour....keeping them in work ! I saw my GP almost every week for months recently because I needed to....no thought of not going, being a pain etc. I needed to see him, that was it. He never complained at all, not to my face anyway !

You say you get on with your Dr that's good.....keep the rapport going and they will look after you well. Any problems, get them out in the open and discuss with the GP.......only way to get a result and better treatment if needed.

Paula,

Any problems regarding feet need to be looked into being diabetic, so do go along and see your gp or practise nurse asap.

Diabetics can self refer to the podiatry department.

As others have said, go to the dr. Hopefully it is nothing to worry about. But as my gran used to say "a stitch in time saves nine". It might be an easy fix if done now, but if left could get worse.

I phoned the drs this morning about my foot. I spoke to a nurse (not diabetic nurse) and she said it is safe to wait wait for my appt with diabetic consultant. Ok, but doesnt stop me worrying though!
