Just got a new prescription for Metformin and they are not the brand I usually get (but from the same pharmacy). The new ones are Metabet SR Prolonged release Talets Metformin Hydrochloride by actavis.
These new tablets smell terrible and the taste as you put them in your mouth is not very nice either.
I've also had a really bad stomach this week but don't know if it's associated yet - I stopped taking the tablets and slowly re-introducing them just to see.
Just writing this to see if anyone else has had any experiences with these.

As they are generic, they probably have not got a coating on like the Glucophage.
Could be coincidence that you have a dicky tummy. If it continues then ask your G.P. to ensure that he puts the make on the prescription.
