I was wondering what was people experience when first taking 2.5 mounjaro when type 2 diabetic?
Of course I'm going to be fully consulting with my own gp about my own personal case, I have an appointment at Monday (25/11/24) I currently take Metformin, Gliclazide, Jardiance & Smegma.
Is my gp likely to stop all of these medications to move over to mounjaro or start mounjaro and slowly phase out my current medication?
Thanks for sharing!

Hi , I'm nearly 10 weeks into Mounjaro so now on 5.0 jabs & the results are amazing. I started on 113 kgs & am now at 100 kgs, my Db nurse took me off Gliclazide straight away so just Metformin & Mounjaro, Blood sugar levels have massively improved mainly I guess down to the smaller food portions I need. Sure there are a few side effects but hey it's well worth it.

How do you get your Gp to prescribe this mines saying she’s got to write to the diabetes team as she can’t prescribe it directly?

I went to my diabetes annual check and asked if I could go on it. I started today.

They told me it wasn’t available (the injections) but I could have semaglutide tablets which are available

I would try another doctor if there is one at your practice. My nurse prescribed mine. Good luck.

Thanks, I might just give the tablets a go as I don’t particularly like needles anyway

I did some research into Rhybelsus pills. It's a semiglutide.
I found it would be too much trouble for me as it needs to be taken 30 minutes before breakfast with only 1/4 cup water. No more than 30, no less than 30 as it can affect how much goes into the blood stream.

I was nervous about injection, but like any skill, it can be learned. The injection takes a few minutes to set up and do, but then it's done for the week.

Do some research on line, ask your medical professional if it's a good choice for you.

If anyone else can add to this please do.

I've just started on Mounjaro 2.5 on Sunday. I'm type 2 and take Metformin and Jardiance. The injection was painless. The needle is so fine I didn't even feel it go in.

I know it's early, but I think I'm already seeing some positive effects. My blood sugar 2 hours after my evening meal this evening was 6.2 mmol/l. I've not had it that low after a meal for over a year. Plus I'm not having the strong cravings for junk food I have had in the past.

I really hope this progress continues so I can see a reduction in my next Hba1c test.

It really isn’t too much trouble. I take mine as soon as I wake up (with up to 100mls water as per the instructions) then by the time I’ve got up, showered, dressed etc.. 30 mins will have passed and I can get on with my breakfast.
