I just checked my BG 2 hours after dinner & before bed. Lowest ever result at 5.5mmol/L. 4 months ago I was 16+mmol/L. I'm diet controlled. I could not have done this without metaformin if my GP had refused to prescribe test strips. GP says each strip costs £0.30. I use 100/month, so about £30/month. Much lower than the cost of treating further complications due to poorly controlled BG. Anyone got any idea of cost of prescribing Metaformin?
Sadly I'm having kidney trouble and taking Ramipril 2.5mg daily to protect them from further damage. Also got peripheral neuropathy which turned from tingling to pain as I initially reduced my BG levels. Duloxitine & Amotryptiline did not agree with me. On 900mg/day of Gabapentin for last month or so. No effect yet.
Anyone else having similar complications?
