Hi hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas .

Randomly out of nowhere casie has had high blood sugars really high up to 24! This started Thursday night and didn't come down, no ketones as we kept correcting (she has a bolus advisor) both diabetes nurses are off so the next morning took her to the Dr's , she has been having back pain round the kidney area so Dr said although nothing in her urine it's likely a kidney infection and she sent off the sample for testing. Got the results back today and there was no sign of infection so have been told to take her off the antibiotics. Only thing is though her bloods are still coming up high they havnt been much under 10, with some readings back up to the 20s, I've continued to use the illness function on the bolus adviser so she is having a higher dose, other then this she is fine in herself nothing else other then her back aches. We've been out and about walking and bike rides and that hasn't brought them down either.

Casie has only had diabetes just over a year and has been in the honeymoon all this while with her last hba1c in November being 6.4% (46mmol). Ive also changed her insulin and lantus incase they had gone bad.

Whenever she has been unwell before its never really affected her blood sugars if anything she usually goes low. Could this be the end of her honeymoon period? I just assumed it would be gradual.

How old is she? Puberty can play havoc with levels.

Hi ,they have been abit better, just really random. Maybe she was having a growth spurt or something. Got to love how it keeps us on our toes and always thinking. X

It’s hard work being a parent. Glad it’s come down.
