Do any of you Type 1 ladies know if you wear nail varnish does it affect your BS when taking the blood from your fingers for testing ?

Hi benjygirl .

Will say here - be sure to keep the nail varnish on your nail area/zone only .
Always wash your hands prior to testing your blood sugar levels .
Especially after using either nail varnish or nail varnish remover .

Any residue 'could' make a difference possibly .
Best to be sure all trace are gone before testing

Hope this can help you .

Anna .

Thanks Anna. I have always washed my hands and been careful but did wonder if the chemicals in the varnish seeped through the nail. I haven't worn varnish since I've been diagnosed which is a shame as I'm quite proud of my long nails
