Having an awfu weekend on the pump. Had a cannula that was working really well and after a tough day at work decided to have fish and chips. All seemed fine until just before bed when BG started creeping up to 12. Thought I'd misjudged slightly so put a correction through and temp basal on. Set alarm to check in just over an hour. BG had risen to 15. Another correction(still assuming it was the fish and chips) and alarm set for an hour. BG 19 and rising, felt sick' blurred vision etc so injected to bring BG down. Alarm set for an hour and BG had dropped slightly. Kept checking each hour and managed to get down to 12. Then BG started rising again so assumed set had failed early. Did a small injection to get me through till morning and changed set first thing. Pulled old set and painted my bathroom red with an unexpected gusher - the worst I've ever had!
New cannula was working but seemed sluggish and I put this down to night before and irregular insulin delivery. 30% basal and seemed ok. Felt ill all day and hardly ate but when I did bolus didn;t seem to have usual effect so guessed site was not such an effect one. BG seemed pretty stable by bed with temp basal on so went to sleep. Woken at about 3am by pump alarm. Occlusion. Primed and waited to see if it alarmed again. 40 minutes later it did and BG had risen to 12. Pulled set and fired new one in which brought BG back to normal slowly. Pulled old set and was kinked.
Now trying to bolus for breakfast and this set seems slow to respond. So tired and fed up and hate the cannulas right now. Why can't it just be one thing at a time?!?
