Hi, I’m 59 years old and have been informed that I am prediabetic which has come as a surprise. I am a ‘good’ weight with a healthy BMI of 21.9. I eat a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg, fish and occasional meat. However, I do eat far too much fruit so cutting that down, and I do have the sweetest tooth so will have to cut that down too. I power walk twice a day with my dog and keep busy. I am not sure why this has happened but I do wonder if having several courses of steroids over the last 20 years may not have helped? I’ve read a lot about the condition since being diagnosed and am pleased I have found this community. I’m trying to reduce my ‘white’ carbohydrate intake down. Should I purchase a blood glucose monitor? Is that a must? Thank you in advance.
