No more metformin

    Hi there just been to see doctor and has taken me off metformin and put me on linaglipton think that's how it's spelt had bad side effects on metformin. I take it these tablets do the same

    Hi. No, the tabelst do different things. The Metformin helps reduce insulin resistance thru excess weight and has a small effect on blood sugar. The gliptin family increases the time after a meal that the pancreas produces insulin. The gliptins are more useful if you are not noticeably overweight. Either way, a low-carb diet will always be the highest priority.

    Gliptin increase insulin production to get rid of more glucose and glucagon in your blood, so low carbing is essential to help your pancreas. They are called inhibitors, they inhibit the production of certain hormones to enable the insulin you produce works better.

    Hi I keep to a low carb diet and I'm losing weight just under 2 stone since January was 17 1/2 now 15-9 now I'm not on metformin I feel great

    Since I have been on gliptin my by have really come under controll
