Hi all,

For those that remember, I was diagnosed with T2 October 2008 and immediately put on Metformin. Over the last year things have gone from bad to worse, although i've had some good days as well. Had issues with my old doc who said I did NOT need to see the Diabetic Team at the Specialist Clinic, did NOT need to see the Dietician and I should NOT be feeling as ill as I was. Changed doctor's and had a great response from him and the Practise Nurse.

I was finally sent to see the Diabetic Team, and have had 3 appointments with them (today being my 3rd) and today was D-Day for me (or I-Day if you like) as I am now the (proud) owner of my very own Humapen and i'm about to take my first 8 units of Humalin - i'm just kinda sat here trying to psych myself up and do it .........................

I still have to take my Metformin and Gliclazide as well for now, I naturally thought i'd be able to stop these (to save me from any more rattling) but I guess not.

Does it get any easier - I suppose it will, bit like when I first started pricking my finger to take blood readings....................................................

Well I managed it last night. Finally worked up enough "courage" to stick a needle in my stomach and it was a doddle, very surprised at how easy it actually was - don't know why I was getting myself all confuddled with it earlier in the day. Still had a high reading this morning (9.7) but lower than a normal morning test result (12 plus) and the real funny thing is I actually forgot to take my metformin, gliclazide, rosuvastatin and ramprimil last night (had a large whiskey before bed  ) but feel a tadge better this morning and will see what the next few days brings

Hi,
I know how you feel. Often diabetes makes us all feel down and you are not alone. Sometimes, I just want to say "sod it" and give up. I just try and see every day as a new exercise book in school - a fresh page or whatever. You can start a fresh every day.

Have you tried altering your diet at all?

:)

Hi Tiger,

I altered my diet when I was first diagnosed last year. It now appears my Pancreas is really screwed up, hence im now on Insulin. I don't have an issue using the Humapen now, much easier than I first thought
