I'm a new bod to diabetes (the giveaway was a raging thirst, multiple visits to the loo every night, and rapidly dropping 2 stones for no apparent reason), and was put on Glucophage SR a month ago, having had a HBa1c of 17. I've been back for a retest, and despite the nurse commenting that she didn't expect to see much of a change in a month, my latest result was 11.2.
My question is, is that a typical reduction, and will it continue to fall? I'm Type 2, and don't eat meat or fish, although I have no issues with dairy or eggs. I have reduced the amount of carbs I'm eating, although obviously couldn't go super low carb (nor would I want to!) I'm trying to lose weight, and have lost 9 pounds in the last 4 weeks.
I'd appreciate any input, I feel utterly overwhelmed with info, much of it conflicting.
I'm glad your diet and meds are bringing your BG down, you must be feeling a lot better
I would talk to DR about a c-peptide test, rapid weight loss may be late onset T1
I would also ask about urine ketostiks from chemist and keep an eye out for ketones.
