i,ve been told to eat nuts is this right and if so which ones are ok too eat
Nuts are good!
Many kinds are low in carbs, so won't send your BG up. look out for Macadamia nuts, walnuts, Brazils etc. Peanuts are not true nuts and quite high in carbs. Always read the nutrition panel.
Not found any lower than Tesco Brazil nuts at less than 4 gms of carb per 100 gms.
I eat a handful of pistachios when I have the munchies either mid-morning or afternoon. Doesn't seem to cause my BS to do anything unusual and keeps off the hunger pangs.

Steer clear of peanuts and cashews. These are not really nuts but are members of the pea family and are quite high in carbs.
If you're anything like me don't eat too many or you'll have to drive with the cab window open
