Hi, I currently live in Spain, I have type 2. I normally have a tostado for breakfast (half a white toasted baguette/french bread). I checked yesterday and my bloods were over 10 after 2 hours, not good. What are the effects of Oat Cakes.
Can anyone advise or have you tried them?
Cheers eaglet

I also live in Spain and find I cannot eat the normal bread . I always ask for pan integral (brown bread )and have much better results. I try and keep to a low carb diet and my bg has improved and I feel so much better.

Oats are good for some of us, not good for others. I don't eat any oat products as a rule as they have too disruptive an effect on my 2 hour post prandial blood sugars. Other type 2s find oats a great addition to their diet. It's a really individual response, you'll need to try them and see.

The same goes for many other foods, there isn't a standard response. I know lots of type twos think twice before eating apples whereas I never found I had a blood sugar spike after eating a nice crisp and juicy Braeburn...
