I was told this today by Optimax, but I know people with diabetes have had laser eye surgery, so I was wondering where people have had it done if they have had it done this year and they are on insulin.

They didn't really give any real reasons, even though the hospital say its ok.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi I have type 1 and had been after laser eye correction for a couple of years & was told the same as you, which is rubbish! I have now had it done at moorfields in London with [mod edit details of doctor removed] it's great no glasses super bionic vision!!!

Wow, ok thanks, that's something to look into then, I really want to get it done.
How did you go about it? Did you have to get a referral to Moorfields?

I have had laser eye surgery from Al Mana Hospital, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, 3 years back while I was/am on insulin. One day prior to surgery I was admitted to hospital most probably to keep/observe my sugar level at acceptable level. I got surgery without any problem. I do not know why Optimax is hesitating to perform eye surgery if one is on insulin. This is very strange for me. Try some other place. Insulin should not be a problem for carrying out an eye surgery. Wish all of you a great and good health always!!!
