Prediabetes

Diet only
I was diagnosed about 2 years ago with diabetes. My fasting glucose is 5, glucohemoglobine - 5.8
C-peptide analysis came back as <0.1. Last year it was norm - 3 ng/ml
Any clues what's going on?

I'm on liraglutide to control for blood glucose and for weight loss. So that's keeping my glucose levels stable

Are you on a low carb diet? Was it a fasting test?

No, I'm not currently low-carbing. Yes, it was fasting test.

C-peptide is a waste product produced when your pancreas makes insulin. If you were fasting, there would be no reason for your pancreas to make any insulin.

You clearly don't have nil cpeptide as you aren't on insulin and you aren't dead.

Ligers tide works by increasing insulin production.

I agree, you would be expected to have low insulin when fasting. That is normal. Why did you have a c-peptide test?

There is still a little inslin needed to control kekotose otherwise DKA....

If it was me, I would ask for the test to be repeated and also see if your GP could speak to the chemical pathology consultant at the hospital that did the lab tests.
