I've just rung Insurance4pumps and been told that bit, is not relevant. Nothing like reading what Lloyd's the underwriters are putting in their documents

Not relevant - then why have it in the documentation then?! I'd worry that stuff like that would be "not relevant" right up until the point where the pump got lost or stolen whilst I was in a car.

The guy in the claims department, told me that. He said well if you leave your pump in the car, it won't be covered, so I asked are you type 1 diabetic?? He replied no, so I said that we would be very unlikely to leave a pump in the car over night, seeing as we can only be of pump, for 1 hour. Which was when he said it's not relevant. I called the claims line on 0333 999 7901, then option 2

A retired ins broker looked at the policy and said do not touch with a barge pole, just use your house contents ins, it's a lot cheaper and better cover. The retired broker has a pump :)

I thought you had to have insurance specifically for your pump so I have a separate policy for it ( probably with the company above or similar)

What has everyone else done for there pump insurance ?

House insurance cover for pump. Has to be mentioned specificslly as an expensive item, and needs to be double checked for those with remote controls that covered outside the house...
I have mine for accidental damage too!!

Made me laugh tonight. The hooligan of a dog that I am house sitting for... I was changing batteries in remote control.. The dog grabbed the back cover of the remote control.. Fortunately nothing broke... Made me think of house insurance claims then...

My household insurance will not cover me outside the house Carbs rock, plus have to pay £100 excess and then claim sent to a broker to see if they could replace. So Carbsrock where do we go to, if household insurance, won't cover???? Asked mine DD, but won 't cover outside, my home so where next???

What companies are you with please who get it covered through your house insurance?

I still haven't sorted mine :I need to do it ASAP but getting mixed messages about covering through the specialist company and household insurers just don't know what to do for the best

The pump is specified as a separate item and I pay £17/year for the privilege I have used two different household ins polices to do this with no problem at all. It's classed under the higher value items.
If your ins wont cover it then look elsewhere with another company.
There's one lady on another forum who pays a grand total of £3 extra a year for her pump cover. So it's easy to get.

I was told by a medical professional if it was costing u money dont bother as the pct made me sign a form to say that the pump belonged to them it should be the pct that are insuring the pump if they own it I was also told that in the unlikely event that it was lost stolen or damaged they would need to replace it

For your own sake you need to make sure with your DSN and get it in writing. It would be a shame if you ended up with no pump due to the wrong info if something did unfortunately happen to your pump.

Well get it in writing then, so you are well and truly covered.
When I had horses on loan or lease I always insured them and ins company were made aware as to who the owner was. This was always part of the loan agreement. :)

That is not true... A teenager I know lost the remote control to her aacuchek pump. They were not covered by insurance and the hospital refused to get a replacement for her.

I am only daying what I was told the example that was given was that you would not insure a car that you did not own you would not be at any financial loss should it be lost damaged or stolen one of the things a car insurance policy asks is are you the owner and registered keeper of the car if u r not they will not insure you every pct will be different but the principle of insuring something that does not belong to you is very odd

Some pumps are "loaned" to patients and they actually have an expiry date on them for when they will stop working...

Mine hasn't. Mine is purchased by the old PCT but it will not be reeplaced if I lose it or am careless...
