Rant???

Ok, so since December I've spent a week in hospital feeling really ill, a lot of tme at the doctors (changed surgery in the hope of getting somewhere with all this) and have basically lost my business through not being able to work.

My last visit to the doctors (Monday) it was decided that Simvistatin may be causing my problem, and it was stopped, I know it will take time to leave my system but I feel as bad now as I did when I went into hospital, I have no energy at all, I feel dizzy (live in a rural location and now daren't drive) and have pains running through various parts of my body, aching joints, blurred vision that comes and goes, and a weird thing going on that See's me change colour, my fingers go white or red, swell up, one thumb nail goes blue (doctor told me its Raynaud's syndrome).

I was diagnosed type 2, am now taking 3 x 500 metformin a day and 75mg asprin, bg runs between 5.2 and 6.3 as a rule (odd time its been over when I've been naughty), cholesterol is at 3.1, the only thing that was high was my CPK on my last blood test (3 weeks ago) which indicates some kind of muscle damage, the doctor has now said to wait for 6 weeks after stopping the statin then return for a blood test to see if that changes the CPK level, trouble is I cant function at any kind of normal level for 6 weeks while I wait, my business (whats left of it) is car transport and recovery and obviously I cant drive the lorry and wouldn't take the risk of any heavy winching or strapping loads while I'm light headed like this, sorry for the rant but does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Andy, I am sorry to hear of your experience with statins. This is quite common as forum members will testify.
There is not a lot you can do until the side effects wear off which usually takes about a month. Hopefully things will settle down then.
This is not a great deal of help as I know your livelihood is at stake but take each day as it comes
as you may see a gradual improvement in a week or so.
Do you think the Raynaud's is a separate issue or did your G.P. think this was a side effect?
Hope this helps,
Catherine.
