I really wonder why the "Newer Hpoglycemic agent",especially Liraglutide of the GLP1 type & Pramlintide of Amylin Analogue type aren't available here in India,other than Sitagliptin of DPP4 type for treatment of Diabetes,which will make it easier to keep the Blood Glucose Levels under control,thus preventing development of complications,apart from increasing the Patient Compliance.
 
I 'll hazard a guess that it all comes down to the relative high costs involved and also the low storage temperatures.
 
This link to a News item states that Liraglutide (Victoza) is available in Indian drug stores. The article is dated 9th June 2010 :

As with most newer drugs it takes time for word to get around to the relevant HCP's. You should ask at your local store or discuss with your Physician.

 
Hmmm ... £60.46 @ today's rates is a tidy ole sum to find for one pen, but I suppose for those that can afford it, it will be worth buying judging by how it has brought my figures down.
