Oh joy, here's something else that diabetes puts us more at risk of :( :( :(

I recently got diagnosed with this at the local eye hospital's A&E dept - apparently the cornea has 3 layers and for some people when it gets damaged (eg by a hair or something similar), it heals but the three layers dont adhere back together properly; the top layer can stick to your eyelid when you're asleep and then gets ripped off when you first open your eyes.
Symptoms are pain on opening your eye(s) possibly with redness or swelling. treatment is ointment in the eye every night and drops during the day for a month or so with firmly crossed fingers that the cornea then heals properly. Anyone experiencing it is advised to keep some eye drops by the bed and to apply them when waking up and/or to move the eyes from side to side for a bit before opening them
