Hi all I fancy after a year of no beer to venture out in the dry red wine world. Haven't a clue where to start, any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
Depends how much you want to spend and which way your taste buds swing. Our go-to bottle of red is from Waitrose Luis Felipe Edwards Carmenere Shiraz from Chile at £5.99 a bottle.
Sainsbury's have there own brand House wine with black labels. There are a lot to choose from and at £5 a bottle or less you could try a few to see what you like. They are not going to win prizes but are not bad either.
You've got to go a long way to beat Aldi Malbec. They do two, approx£3.50 and £5.50 from memory. Also their Toro Loco. Again two different prices. Can't remember for the mo' but very slurpable.
Thank you folks The Aldi Malbec sounds good, also the Waitrose and Sainsbury,s. Bottle from each then thank you again .
I think the Sainsbury house variety is of very good quality, Asda seems to have gone down hill but with higher prices. Aldi due some intersting French reds under the Pardon my French label my fav being Fitou at £4.49 a bottle.
Thank you Alison I did have a look today in Aldi at a Malbac, looks fine, been good all year,my turn for some Christmas cheer.
I heard red wines from France, Italy and Spain are the better ones. Less tannins and preservatives means less hangover
Think your right Kristin My small knowledge is the colder the country the grape is grown the less sugar in the finish, and the country's mentioned are spot on
My advice? Go for a screwtop. Don't be afraid to chill red wine. Price isn't relevant - if YOU like it!
