Metformin been increased for 5 days now

Increased by how much? If you were on a fairly low dose and it's been doubled for instance it just might be that you didn't get any side effects with the lower dose. Give it a couple of weeks and see if it settles down, if not you could try the slow release metformin, gp's usually prescribe the bog standard metformin as it's cheaper.

Thank you I was on 500mg and they up it to 1000mg slow release
