soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I just went to the box for the post. should have gone earlier. I could have yelled at the hospital then. too late now till Monday.
I got a letter postponing my retina appointment to 01/05/09 from 12/12/08, which had already been postponed from September.
There's a paragraph at the end telling me that if I fail to come without notice to them, or cancel 2 appointments in a row, I'll be discharged.
So they can mess me about and not see me for over a year, without any come-back, but if I miss an appointment, they throw me out.
Luckily I went to specsavers not long ago and they say my eyes are fine, so I'm not worried about them.
Anyway I'm opening up WORD to write an angry letter whilst I'm still fuming.

I know how you feel, and just what you mean. The times I always get to all my appointments early, so as not to keep anyone waiting. Doesn't work the other way round though :!: I'm frequently kept waiting. I was an hour late being seen the other week :x

AND same thing in the Doctors' or the Hospital. Signs everywhere saying "Zero Tolerance Policy" re: patients abusing staff... but it doesn't apply the other way round, have you noticed :?: :!:

I've never been late or missed an appointment with one doctor I see. I had to cancel ONCE recently (the first time in many years of seeing him) and got a similar letter, threatening if it happens again I'll be removed from his list :!: :!:

The National Health Service!

Free at the point of access unless we think you're a fat, drunken ******* who won't help him/herself.

We're lovely and earning big, fat salaries.

So sod you!

Just mentioned this to OH, his retort 'money, budgets' your new appointment is for the start of the new financial year, ......coincidence???

Part 2
T1 husband is now overdue for a post laser checkup. He's going to ring the hospital Monday Morning and ask why he can't have the appointment they took from me.
I already sent an angry email to their complaints address. I expect they never open it, so I'm going to send hard copy by post too. I cited NICE guidelines.
I think it's time to involve the local papers. Everyone in this area who depends on this hospital hates their Centralised appointments system. Add to that the poor bus service to the hospital from the Western side of town( where I live) and the appaling car parkingwith huge cost.
People of the Reading area do not get a satisfactory service. Emergency service isn't too bad, but anything else  !!!!!!!

Very likely.

Another possibility, they want the Prime Building Land that the hospital currently inhabits and want to replace it with one built on green belt. before they can do that they have to run down the old one and make it appear even more inefficient. (BT seen it done)

ARRRRRRGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! We are talking R B H here aren't we! This always happens to me too. I have just had a baby, and due to previous laser treatment, it meant that they had to see me a few times during pregnancy. They never gave me an appointment, but said it would arrive by post. They were right, it did, 3 days after the appointment I was supposed to have attanded..and due to that clause they treat you like a leper. My last appointment there, they had lost my notes again (2 time this year) didn't dilate my eyes until 4 hours later, and the entire appointment took 2 minutes. They are running Saturday clinics to catch up, which is to be praised, however, as teh dim nurse wouldn't dilate my eyes until the Dr had spoken, by the time it was my turn, all teh staff except the dr had gone home, he spect less than 30 seconds per eye, and I could make a new appointment as the receptionist had gone home! IT AMKES ME SO ANGRY!!!!!! Very sympatheic to your plight, and that of your husband. You have spurred me on to write a letter of complaint too.

They pulled a great stunt on mother a while back.

TWO appointments on the same day at the same time in different hospitals fifty miles apart.

What would be the chance of that happening by coincidence?
