Good morning guys and gals,
I have been type 1 for 4 years now and I have now decided that I want to take up running again. I used to run a lot when I was in school (14 years ago), moved to cycling when i was in college and then gave it all up when I learned to drive. I have a personal hatred for gyms because what you can do there for £30+ a month you can do for free in your garden or on the road.
My levels are in the norm but I have started to put on a little fat (a stone in the past 6 months), I have set my self a goal of completing a 5K run for Bupa in October, I have a training program set up ready to start but I have now wandered in the the uncharted territory of diabetes and fitness.
What advise can you give me on levels before and after training, carb loading before a big run and things to take with me i.e types of isotonic drinks, what to include in a hypo kit?
Many thanks in advance
Dan
