Saxagliptin and insomnia

I started the saxagliptin just over two weeks ago. To start I took the tablet in the evening but found that I couldn't get to sleep, so decided to take it on the morning instead in the hope that the effects would wear off by bedtime.

They haven't. I now seem to be on a cycle of sleeping every other night (probably down to exhaustion!) I don't feel tired during the day and seem to be able to manage 36 or so hours without sleep. I'm sure my brain isn't functioning at 100% but I'm muddling along.

Is this usual? Will it calm down as my body gets used to it?

Hi,

According to this article, it is a once daily pill that works for 24 hours so the timing of taking it may not be significant.

If you are concerned that this medication has led to insomnia then it is best to report it to your G.P.

I hope that someone else who is using this medication will answer you.
