This is an embarrasing one so please go easy on me.

I'm 21, male and have had diabetes since i was 4 years old.

So far life hasnt been clean sailing for me. I got diabetes at the age of four but this didnt scare me as my dad also had it so i learned to deal with it. I had some ups and downs with the diabetes but nothing major, that was until my dad passed away when i was 12. I went through a really tough time, didnt see the point in looking after myself.

I started going out at weekends and drinking till i couldnt stand, never checked bloodsugars and in general was a state.

As of 2 years ago that all changed :) thanks to my girlfriend. I have found someone that has given me the power to sort myself out :).

Now to my worry. As some of you may know us male diabetics sometimes suffer from ED (erectile disfunction). My girlfriend and i were lets just say very active when we were first dating, but over the last two years things have seriously slowed down (and afraid to say almost stopped).

I have spoken with my girlfriend and she knows the problem is linked to the diabetes and she says that it dosnt bother her (but i can see it does and it frustrates me :S). I have tried pills from the Doc but my problem is that when using the pills ( how can i say this emmmm) i dont last long at all. I can see its having an effect on our relationship but i dont know what to do.

Please help me :(

You should go back to your GP and explain about the short time span of your present meds and ask for something with more staying power. They do exist and they are available on his/her SLS prescribing abilities.

Hi Yes Tracey69 has a good point i didn't think that diabetes would effect sensations in your sex life, i have heard how it effects men but come to mention it i always thought because i was getting over 40 things just slowed down. My hubby is quiet active and sometimes i find it hard to keep up.

I'm sure she understands, maybe she feels abit embarressed about talking about things like that i know i get abit embarressed when my hubby talks about sex and we have been together 12 years. Try not to worry or stress about it that can sometimes make the situation worse.

Best of luck

Here's a great 'tip' for you... :!:
Us girls LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE long snuggglllly CUDDLES . . . . :D
Makes us feel safe secure and warm all cuddled and loved up !
Keep letting her know you can love her in other ways too.
A cuddle is 'free' too . . . Costs nothing !

Hi Jammer. You sound like such a sweetie. As someone else said, we girls love lots of kisses and cuddles too, and remember, there are LOTS of other things you can do too to please your girlfriend that do not involve intercourse! Be creative!! Good luck, and don't give up with the doc until you get ... umm ... satisfaction!!

Hi Jammer, totally understand your fears my friend, I too have the same problem and have been diebetic type 1 for 23 years and the nether reagion (so to speak) has been dead as a dodo now for about 5 years. I have tried the usual little blue pill (Viagra) but they just gave me headaches and blurred vision  I have tried the little yellow pills (Ciallis) but again headaches blured vision and terrible pains in my legs :( there are a couple of other options available like Vacum pump (might be fun)....Injections in the you know what  (don't fancy that) or the implant :***: (not good either) So what's a man to do?...firstly start by believing what your girlfriend has told you, you CAN give your partner complete satisfaction in many other ways which is just as much (if not more) fun than penatrative sex

I understand and sympathise deeply though with your problem and also how frustrating it can be but try not to let it upset you too much and enjoy what you can.

All the best my friend.....It's a struggle but not the end.

Long term diabetic, could write a book on this one, seems to be many solutions, but GP's are'nt prepared to fund it in my postcode.

Hi Jammer.

A little late on this post, sorry.

If you have problems with libido as well as ED, you should ask your doctor to test your testosterone level. If it's low, you get those symptoms, plus often others.
