Hi
I am also on 2 x metformin MR and 1 x sitagliptin daily. No reaction to any the MR metformin is easier on your tummy than normal metformin which can cause wind and diarherra (sp) it may take up to a month for you to see changes in your sugar levels as sitagliptin takes time to start working.

I'm on 4 x 30 mg Gliclazide and 1 x 100mg Sitagliptin they have been incresing the Sitaglipin dose over the last 3 months still not working.

Hi Cobra.

You say things are not working ? What else are you doing to help the medication work ? Have you changed your diet at all ?

Ken.

Yes Ken all the usual stuff low GI diet, exercise etc. I've been type 2 for 6 years now and it all started going down the tube about 6 months ago.

Does sound like you are trying.

Maybe if you haven't already, you should get a review of the medication with your GP. Wht you are taking should be having an effect.

If you think that a second opinion may be called for then ask for a referral to an Endocrinologist. It is your right and not a criticism of your GP. You just want the best care for yourself.

I found that once I had seen an Endo and the treatment was corrected all my numbers and symptoms diminished rapidly. Go for it.

Yes I think that will be the next step but I live in Australia, no national health here.

Australia.....yeah, right.

Don't know much about the system there, I imagine it is very good but perhaps costly ? Hope you can get it sorted without too much expense. Let us know how you get on.

Ken.

Think yourself lucky a visit to the doctor cost $54 (25GBP) you can claim back 60% My meds cost over $100 a month that is the subsidised price. To visit a specialist around $500 there are compensations though it's warm and sunny a lot more than the UK but I wouldn't knock the NHS ever again.
