A remarkably silly article/report which has appeared in other papers today. What on earth is a 'refined food'. I can understand the addition of chemicals can be an issue and the lack of fibre but the problem with many refined foods is the carb content but the authors don't seem to get that. One of the papers mentions calories which are irrelevant and the usual silly mantra about low-fat and low-salt. We all know that fat is not a problem and neither is salt for most people. Sugar is mentioned as a problem but not that it is part of the carb group. The other thing on the news today was the suggestion of taxing food calories which is even more stupid as it would result in low-fat food and aiding obesity.
