Any Type two diabetics eating sourdough bread - it seems to be a pretty low GI food. Is it the best bread to eat if you are diabetic. Anyone know?

Hi,

The only way you will know if this bread is suitable for you is to test it's affect on your blood sugars. Control is not an exact science as some can tolerate foods that others find has a detrimental affect on their blood sugars. Low GI is healthy for the general population but a diabetic still has to test.

As Catherine says the only way of knowing if a food is suitable to you is by testing your blood glucose after eating, remember the quantity consumed will ultimately play a big part in how much your bg rises......so be warned! :)

also don't forget that the type of bread flour used may affect the GI rating. Some are higher than others.
