Spikes

Hi

I have been Type 2 for some years now and have for the last three years been insulin based. I thought that I would try to get some information of post meal spikes and, today, I measured my bloods as follows:

Before meal: 6.8
Novorapid x 34 units
Meal: Two sandwiches (ham and mustard)
One hour after: 9.5
Two hours after: 10.6
Three hours after: 12.9
Four hours after: 8.9

This, to me, shows a worrying spike followed by a steepish fall. The trouble is that if I were to take a higher dose of Novorapid then there is a very real danger of a hypo.

Has anyone else had this same problem/experience and managed to arrive at an acceptable answer please?

Yes, lower the carbs. 2 sandwiches - 2 slices or 4 slices of bread? I don't eat bread now, nor rice, pasta, potatoes etc. They all require tons of insulin and battling spikes. Low carbing keeps you in a narrower range and needs less insulin.
